If you could change one thing about your delivery ...

What would it be and why?

nothing. it was how it was - living in the present ;)

The actual delivery was perfect...couldn't have been better. The one thing i wish is that my own doctor could have been there for the delivery, but it wasn't a big deal.

But I wish I'd been more insistent with the triage doctor who told me my water hadn't broken, when it really had. It all worked out in the end, but it required Anna to need 48 hrs of antibiotics due to ROM greater than 24 hours. And we were close to needing a c section, since there was almost no fluid left, causing cord compressions/decelerations...if the intrauterine saline infusions hadn't worked, c section was the next step.

It would have been 4 weeks later. other than that, it was perfect.

Delivery was fine but the 3 days after is what I would change, I had a spinal leak from the epi. That was horrible!!

epidural would have been great but on the flip side I was walking around 40 minutes after delivery!!!

That I wouldn't have gone through the torture of getting the epi when it didn't even work! Other than that my labor and deliver was amazing!

I would change the epidural process. I was stuck 4 or 5 times by the time he finally got it in. Next time I'm making sure that I'm in the position the doctor wants me to be before he starts sticking me.

Nothing. He's healthy. I'm fine. Alls well ; )

That my baby had been born breathing and not whisked away from me ASAP. I feel cheated that I did not get to cuddle skin-to-skin with her as soon as she was born. However, I am greatful beyond words for the NICU team that responded to the code for her.

It would have been nice if the spinal would have taken properly for the c/s. It was a pain having to lay around waiting and then get the epidural to finalize before they could do the procedure. It was like an extra hour.

But I mean really, this is NOT a big deal and I was just mildly annoyed, not actually upset.

I wish she hadn't been so jaundiced either so that she could have been in the room most of the time rather than in the nursery most of the time.

It would definitely be that my epidural would have worked and continued to work while I was on Pitocin ..the drug from hell... I'm stillllllllllll waiting to forget that pain like everyone says I will.

Hasn't happened yet!!

I would have told them no to the staydal(sp?). That way I would have been able to remember more. And I would have loved for to have been positioned correctly so I hadn't of had to have the c section.

I wish that they would have been able to get the spinal on the first try. The woman doing it kept missing. She tried for like 30-45 min. until my ob finally told her to call in someone else. My back was bruised and sore for days. Ava is 10 wks., and my back is still bothering me. Other than that, my delivery was perfect.

I wish I would have known ahead of time that it was going to go so fast.

This! Although Tessa was born breathing they still only let me have her for 30 min and this was after they worked on her, cleaned her up and swaddled her ... so no skin on skin for me. Then sh was in the NICU instead of with me ... I wish I could change that. But she is healthy and perfect so I can't complain!

I wouldn't have gotten the membrane sweep or let the doctors break my water. I never progressed past 4 cm and I think he wasn't ready to come out. 18 hours of back labor wasn't fun either, but now I know for next time to get myself a midwife who I have a close relationship with so I don't have anymore unexpected/unwanted medical interventions. Hopefully I can do a vbac, too!

That I Would have just let it go natural instead of being induced. The dr told me I needed to be induced or I would end up with a caection bc he was going to be too big. I was told he was 9.5-10 lbs and his sis was 9 lbs and we had trouble with her delivery and she was going to let me go another week if I had a caection.

I didn't want a section and so I agreed to be induced (we were planning one in beginning bc of possible medical issue but he didn't have it) he was only 8 lbs 8 oz

Nothing for me either. Home birth would have been ideal but it all turned out for the best since we needed a specialist in the hospital.
