Artistic Abilities

Do you think everyone has an artistic ability?
Do you have one or many in particular?
Do you think your kids have any or how to cultivate any in them?

My entire life, I wanted to be artistic, but I have never felt I was. I can't draw, I can't paint, scrapbooking was mediocre, etc. However, I did find out I'm pretty good with sculpting. But I think my artistic ability is in writing. I've always been good with poetry and now with writing stories. My kids have an interest in learning about story telling, too. Other than that, my daughter likes to color.

I suppose if everything works as it should lol.

Why i say everything works as it should?
I would say I have no artistic talent. I cant draw or paint or design or write or dance. I do have though Aspergers and ADHD and find my brain is far to analytical to have artistic talent.

I think a lot of people don't consider all the ways artistic talent can express themselves.

I think my daughter does so far. Hers seems to be in dance and her acting( she's very much an actor, comedienne and drama queen, and always has been)

I also have Aspergers, and I think that's why doing anything artistic was hard for me for so long. In a weird way, writing has helped though, and being analytical and sensory and paying attention to such minute details has helped me writing as well. I still struggle with characters, but I'm getting better at it, and it's helping me get better at "people". I know it's not for everyone, though.

Do you think everyone has an artistic ability? that's really hard to say, I know that all of the kids I've spent significant amounts of time with have shown signs of being artistic, certainly some more than others. I think that a lot of adults lost their creativity when reality set in.

Do you have one or many in particular? I'm really good at music, It's easy for me, even without lessons. I don't feel like I'm very good at art/drawing, but I enjoy it, and when I was younger I used to get awards and such. I'm an okay writer too, and it's something I really miss doing and haven't had time for since having kids.

Do you think your kids have any or how to cultivate any in them? I see things blooming, but I don't know what direction it will go in. I did buy some little drums and tambourines for the kids and we'll all sing and play together. Eliana especially seems to have a strong inclination for music, all four of us go around singing all the time. We also colour together, and read books.
I think as they get older it will be fun to teach them more.

If you consider all forms of creativity "artistic ability," yes I believe everyone has it. I think creative expression is art, in any form. And nearly everyone had a creative side. Whether it involves drawing scale maps (yes, analytical, but still creative) or making a paper mâché piñata...everyone has those forms of expression.

I am mostly a paper-crafter. I love making collages, handmade invites/thank yous, and sometimes scrap booking (although that takes more time than I generally want to invest). I am also fairly good at seeing colors together and completing room layouts in my head. I enjoy writing on occasion.

Liam loves both music and the act of taking things apart and putting them back together. So I think he will have some artistic abilities in some regard. I will be excited to see where they lead. It's hard to tell with Kieran. He is extremely animated in his language expression, so I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up liking drama or something related.
