Daily Kick Counts?

Is anyone else NOT counting their baby's kicks daily?!!

I have a sheet printed out and everything that has spots for me to put down the date, time and how long it took for me to reach 10 kicks but I have yet to start filling it out even though I know I should >_<

I just feel her moving and kicking around randomly, will count 10 of them and make sure it's all within an hour.

So I don't actually know her "pattern" or anything, just that she's pretty active all day but the past week it has been mostly at night.

Is is super horrible that I'm not keeping track?!

I only did kick counts with my first pregnancy. Haven't since and am not doing it this time around either.

Oh good I'm glad I'm not the only one lol sometimes if I feel like she's been still for too long I'll just lay on my back and gently rub my belly until she's annoyed and moves lol then I'm like, "Yup she's ok :P"

I don't count. I didn't even realize you were supposed to. I'll notice if it's been awhile since I've felt him though.

My ob didn't mention it to me. I just notice her so active lately. If i don't feel anything for a while i just drink some water and relax, (or poke her, lol) then she starts kickin again. So she's good.

Re: Daily Kick Counts?

Seriously with my first pregnancy my daughter wasn't much of a kicker and all those kick counts did was make me worry! For my second pregnancy my son was very active and I didn't think much of doing the kicks counts. This time around we have another active little guy who always kicks me especially in the afternoon.I must admit I love having an active baby because I know they are ok in there :)

LOL!!!! Right?!! I'm guilty of doing that too :-P BF gets all defensive of her and is like, "Quit poking her! Leave her alone lol"

Sometimes I swear I can feel her whole back against my belly and will rub it like I'm giving her a mini massage.. LOL! It's so fun I can't help :P

man I would be counting all day if I did. nope, n I didn't do it with the girls either. if I did it would be all messed up cause I know there would be times when I would be too lazy to get up and get the paper lol

I'm not doing it either-
last appointment (Tues/28 weeks) my Ob said I can start them around 32 weeks if I'm still having a lot of BHs but that it was up to me.

I don't think I will because I'm the type of person to make myself a worried mess because she wasn't moving exactly what I thought she should be.

Re: Daily Kick Counts?

I was told to do them if I was worried. I wasnt told to do them every day. I downloaded a simple kick counter on my phone today, though. He sometimes just doesnt move much. When I drank a bottle of water, sat down, and started the timer I got to 10 in just 16 minutes so Im not so worried.

See I'm the same way! It's supposed to help make sure baby is doing alright but for me it would just cause more worry and stress! One day she might not move as much or as quickly and my mind would start thinking the worst lol

Re: Daily Kick Counts?

It's funny because I went for so long dying to feel him move so that I could be more reassured that everything was ok and now every day I'm panicked if he's moving too much or too little.

You can't win at the worry game :P

Re: Daily Kick Counts?

I don't do them either. He is constantly moving enough to the point I know he is doing ok. I barely did kick counts with DS either.

Dandelion May 24th, 2013 07:30 PM

I've never been told to do them unless something felt off or was wrong. They're not a recommended daily thing here where we live. So nope, not doing them and didn't do them last times either. She moves so much that there's no need any ways.

Re: Daily Kick Counts?

I do them if I don't feel her move much. And I have an app on my phone that counts the kicks and how long it took me to get to 10. All I do is press the screen everytime I feel her move. And it will keep track of the time.

I don't do them and more than likely wont unless i feel like something is wrong, she is always on the go like she is really on a mission in there :)!

Re: Daily Kick Counts?

Never done them. My dr. said they tend to just make people worried, and it is better to just be aware of your baby and try to get to know their patterns, etc... My last baby the placenta was in front and I didn't feel much and a couple of times I went to the doctor cause I was worried and everything was always fine. This time I feel a lot more so it seems like a lot to me, though I STILL worry. I always worry!
