Hello! New here with Lupus

Hello! I have scrolled down the JM boards before, but never this far down to find this group! My name is Emily and I am 30. I have a son who's 9 and a son who's 7. I was diagnosed with membranous glomerulonephritis after my second son was born. Then a couple years later, the diagnosis was changed to lupus and lupus nephritis. Several years and meds later, I have been in remission for 6 months. I am off all of my meds and found out I was pregnant with #3 a few weeks ago. We are excited because we thought we wouldn't have anymore because of my kidneys. I'm hoping and praying to stay in remission the whole time and hopefully a few more years down the road! Guess we'll see what happens...

First and foremost I have to say..... :grats: Emily!!!!

Welcome to A D&D board

You know it's very promising to hear success such as yours with your lupus going into remission and being able to be off all meds. There's one thing my rheumie said that has stuck out in my mind is that autoimmune diseases tend to go into remission during pregnancy. (sometimes stay the same and less often get worse) I pray that yours continues to stay in remission and you feel better than ever thru your pregnancy!

I'm Celena btw, host here :)

Hi!

I'm Lisa and I have lupus as well. I'm so happy to see that you have two healthy children. Being on this board gives me so much hope. I just lost my baby 2 weeks ago today. I was 23 weeks 3 days. I developed preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. After reading stories on here and other stories on the internet, I see that my condition could have been managed if I had more competent doctors. My lupus was totally in remission before pregnancy and throughout the entire 23 weeks. Well, that is until I developed HELLP. I got very sick and am just now recovering. It's nice to be on this board with other women who not only have lupus but who are pregnant. I am hoping to become pregnant ASAP. I really think having another baby right away will provide so much comfort. I don't have any children and was so happy being pregnant and looking forward to being a mommy. Keep us posted throughout your pregnancy. I am sending prayers your way for a healthy pregnancy and healthy delivery! :) :)

p.s. nice to meet you!

Hi Lisa and welcome here! I saw your post in the stillbirth forum. I too ended up with HELLP syndrome last December and had to deliver our daughter too early at only 22 weeks and she was too small to survive. I had to be in the hospital for eight days after and was sick for quite some time. Don't be surprised if you feel sick and depleted for awhile. It was a good 4 months before I finally felt like I had regained some energy back. And it was probably a good 4 months before my blood pressure finally got under control.

My two older boys were born before I was diagnosed with lupus. Before you think about TTC again, make sure you consult with a high risk doctor first. My maternal fetal specialist told me after developing HELLP so early on that it would be too much of a risk for me to have any more, but I also have renal involvement with my lupus so I'm not sure how that changes things. It would be a good idea to have a specialist on board from the beginning.

Are you still in remission or did the HELLP knock it out? Are you on any meds currently? How are you feeling? I know it is tough being physically sick and emotionally worn out at the same time. I just took it one day at a time.
