I have been feeding my 5 & 1/2 month old cereal for almost two months now. He is taking it twice a day, morning and evening, and has been doing great. For the past week I have been giving him half a container of the Gerber Stage 1 sweet potatoes w/ his evening cereal. He was taking it well and seemed to enjoy the taste (I suppose when all you know is bm, formula, and cereal everything with flavor tastes great!) Anyways, all of a sudden, the last 3 nights he has refused to eat both the cereal and the sweet potatoes. He starts screaming and trying to force his way out of his chair. I've tried giving just the cereal, just the sweet potatoes, and also mixing them...he won't take them any way. When he throws a fit, I take a break and try again 10 minutes later. Still throws a fit. Today I just nursed him after two attempts with the food. He ate well - not super fast like he had been starving, but not slow like he wasn't hungry...so I figure he must be hungry, but not starving. About a half hour after I nursed him I tried again with the solids, again he threw a fit. He has still been eating the cereal just fine in the morning. Anyone have any clue what's going on?

I did read when they are teething they will tend to eat less. The article was refering to solids specificly not formula or BM they said that should stay the same. Maybe he is teething?

I was going to say teething too.

Remember that solids are just for practice now and it should be fun so he will want to keep eating them. Maybe take a break for a couple days and then bring them back into his diet. Good luck!
