When did you increase portion sizes?

When did your baby begin eating:
  • 1 jar?
  • 2 jars?

Re: When did you increase portion sizes?

Since I make Emily's food I measure in frozen cubes. She started at 2 cubs twice a day (5 months) and now normally has a 4oz yogurt for breakfast 3-4cubes at lunch and 3-4cubs at dinner. Each cube is about 1 tbsp.

I started giving her 3 meals a day at about 6.5 months but she had also been eating cereal and solids since 4.5 months.

It's still day to day though. Sometimes I can't get her to eat solids every well at all and then the next day she'll want twice as much as normal.

I didn't start Ben on solids until he was about 5.5 months, but even now, if we used jarred food frequently, I doubt he'd have more than 2 jars at a meal. He's still getting most of his nutrition from breastmilk at this point. I just followed his cues. He very obviously lets me know when he's still hungry (as in, he starts grunting and fussing until I shovel more food in his mouth) and when he's done (pushing the spoon away, not opening his mouth wide, getting very distracted) - and I trust his cues. But he probably started eating a little more around 7.5 to 8 months, maybe?

i buy Kyla the freshly made baby food from a store here. but she never eats more than a jar at a time. sometimes she will only eat 1/2 a jar. she is 10 months old now. basically you should follow her lead. if she wants more offer her a little more. but it is best to watch babies cues.
