ALright, so Bella has, in the past week or so, completely refused baby food. She really wont eat anything off of a spoon anymore. She wants to do it herself. And she's really really good at feeding herself, but for dinner it seems to me like she never gets enough food in her, because the past couple of nights she has been waking up for a bottle in the middle of the night. She'll be moaning in her crib (she's never been a cryer), so Chris or I will go check on her and she's still got her pacifier and she looks all comfy and everything but her eyes are halfway open and she is just moaning. So we've been giving her a bottle. Keep in mind that this child has been sleeping through the night without a bottle since she was 6 weeks old... so for her to start this now has to do with her eating at night, I believe.
For example, last night I got ALMOST a whole jar of Country Vegetables in her and she also had her own spaghetti (about a 1/4 cup) that she was working on and about a half a slice of bread all ripped up into small pieces. She only ate about half of the spaghetti but all of the bread. I tried to give her an egg yolk after that thinking that she was bored with the spaghetti... but she acted like she was full. I also think she's starting to wean herself from the bottle too. Because at night she RARLY wants to take her bottle,... she just wants to go to sleep!!! She'll fuss and fuss until I put her down in her crib. But then she wakes up like 5 or 6 hours later and wants a bottle. She drank 6 1/2 oz last night at 3am!!!!!! That's a lot for her. She usually takes about 5 oz a bottle.
What can I give her that she can feed herself that will fill the girl up!??!?!? I'm losing it here.
I'm not sure at all whats normal at this age, but Cohen JUST started to eat a jars worth of food at each meal, like a week ago lol. Before that it was about half a jar. and now he is back down to about 2-3 tablespoons. I think he eats alot less when his teeth are bothering him, he had a few months of not eating much, two teeth popped out and suddenly he was eating way more, now he is back to not eating much so I am assuming its the teeth. Also their tummies are pretty tiny, only the size of their fists so maybe she just cant fit more than that?
He also wakes up crying or moaning in the night. I would try other soothing tehcniques and see if she goes back to sleep, and if all else fails give her the bottle. I think their sleep patterns just change at this age. I know i read at this age they can now willingly stay awake.
