Ok, call me a big huge dork, but I have a little Thanksgiving meal planned for Ethan (baby food of course) you know, turkey, sweet potatoes, etc. Is it possible that he'll be on baby food by then? He'll be 4 months.

Our doctor told us not to start till 6months because of the risks of starting too early. We did start a little cereal (never in a bottle) at around 5 1/2 months, then veggies at 6 1/2 and fruits around 7 1/2 months.

i hate to say it steph, but even if he has started veggies and fruits, he shouldn't have meats until 6 months at the earliest. i'm not sure why that is but thats what i've read and doctors have said. you can still have a mini feast for him,but omit the turkey and only give him things that he has eaten and not had any problems with. nothing will ruin a holiday faster than a sick baby.

Oh bummer! I definitely don't want a sick baby. Maybe we'll just do some Thanksgiving cereal then lol!

Braxton was 3 1/2 months old when I started him on cereal... Now he eats anything that won't eat him first.. Even broccoli (one of his favorites)

I just started my son on rice cereal at the doctor's request. He is 4 1/2 months old. He started waking up in the middle of the night to eat again so she suggested giving him the cereal. He has slept through the night 2 out of the past 3 nights. He loves the cereal but nothing comes close to the breastmilk :P

congrats on your son sleeping through the night! sounds like hes on his way to being a big boy.
ITA, breast is best!

Xander was started on solids at 2months. Doctor's orders.

onefertilemama September 19th, 2005 05:41 PM

ashes, why did you'r doctor tell you to start at 2 months if i may ask?

Ashes78 September 19th, 2005 05:47 PM

He was drinking 40oz of formula day and would have fits when he saw someone else eating. Plus he was growing at a fast rate. He has gained 9lbs 10oz and 6.5" since he was born.

onefertilemama September 19th, 2005 09:05 PM

wow! yeah, i'd say he needed something extra too!

Ashes78 September 19th, 2005 09:10 PM

LOL. I am starting to wonder why he is growing so fast.

We started at 5.5 months with our first DD. Our second DD was exclusively BF for 6 months, when we tried solids she refused. We eneded up EBF till she decided to skip solids and eat table food at 9.5 months. We just had to follow her lead which was fine by me :)
