LEIGH
Gender: Feminine & Masculine
Usage: English
Pronounced: LEE
From a surname which was a variant of LEE.

Leigh looks very feminine not so unisex

Lee seems a bit more unisex but I'd spell it like this for a male and Leigh for a girl.

I agree that Leigh looks more feminine. I have quite a few female friends with the MN of Lee.

it's ok.. I know both guys and girls named Leigh (with various spellings)

My middle name is Lee because it's a family name. It's also my grandfather's name. I've seen it on both men and women. I've only ever heard of Leigh on men (except in a horrible book I read once where the character's name was Heaven Leigh  ).

And what exactly is your point? It was JMO that Leigh is feminine and Lee could go either way but seemed a bit more of a masculine way to spell it! I have never in my life come acrossed (personally speaking) a man with the spelling Leigh.

I agree that Leigh is definitely for a girl, I myself have never seen it used for a man before either. However there are many versions of Lee out there. Lee is definitely a unisex way of spelling it. However my middle name is spelled Lea its the french spelling. It is still pronounced Lee.

I see Leigh on a girl (Lee as a MN for either sex, I know both).. I like it, only for middle.

To me Lee is a surname or the masculine spelling. Leigh is all girl to me.

Personally, I hate 'Leigh'. It bothers me. I dislike it A LOT when people spell Ashley like "Ashleigh". Lee, I dont mind. Or Leah, or Lea. Leigh for some reason just irks me instantly.

LadyGamer November 3rd, 2008 11:54 AM

I personally just don't liket he whole Lee or Leigh as a name. I know both females and males with each, and i don't think one is more feminine or masculine than the other. I just think (for the most part... not all cases) its a cop-out middle name. I'm not a fan of one syllables.

LadyGamer November 3rd, 2008 11:54 AM

double post.

I don't like it on a boy at all, but I like the Leah (or Leigha is even better) version on a girl! :)
