Marilyn

Is it too old fashion? Or could it make a comeback?

Do you instantly think of Marilyn Monroe? If so do you think that is going to be the case in 10 years also?

What do you think about the name?

I think Marilyn Monroe, and also of DH's grandfather's sister, who isn't the greatest of people.

if I detach myself from that and look at the name objectively, it is a nice name.

Yes, it feels really dated for me.

Re: Marilyn

I think of my Sunday School teacher who is in her late 70's now. A wonderful lady, but I associate this name with older people. I don't hate the name, but it DOES feel dated to me, and I would see some of the other derivatives of Mary making a comeback possibly before this name. Thats just my opinion, not based on any research.

I like Marilyn actually. I don't know anyone under 30 with the name, true, but everything else+lyn is very popular right now so I don't see why Marilyn shouldn't come back itself. I think it would be adorable and somewhat unique on a child. :)

I honestly did not immediately think of Marilyn Monroe until I read that part of your post. I'm not a fan of this name and would prefer it as a middle name but it's not horrible either.

I didn't think of Marilyn Monroe. I know a 30-ish woman named Merrilyn (Mary-lyn). I really like that derivative of it. But I also think Marilyn is a really name.
