Are you up for a challenge ???

I'm expecting my first (and only) daughter in January.

My mom passed away January 2011 and my ex-MIL (who I loved too and ex-husband is baby's daddy) passed away in August 2011.

I was thinking about honoring both of them, even though I do not like their names very much.....

My mom's was Ingeborg (short Inge) and my MIL's was Geraldine (short Geri).....

Is there any way to fuse those names together, or change the names a bit to make them more likable ???

I hope you know what I mean.....

Thanks !!!

PS. I don't have a first name for baby yet, but I bet that'll be easier than this challenge ;)

Hmm...well, I would maybe go by meaning.

The meaning of the name Ingeborg is "Ing's Protection."

Some other girls' names with the meaning "protection" are:

Branka
Ramona
Csilla
Rosamund

For Geraldine, there are several variants listed online. These are:

Jerilyn
Yeraldina
Jeri
Geri

You could maybe combine those somehow. I kind of like the sound of Jerilyn Ramona. Not sure....this is definitely a toughy!

I like Ingrid Geraldine (or whatever variant of Geraldine you like).

I like the Geraldine Ingrid combination. I love Geraldine because of a personal association, but also I think there's plenty of nicknames for Geraldine, if she wants one, as opposed to Ingrid.

As much as I generally don't like Ginger, I really like it for you. I think it's a nice mashup.

You could also borrow from someone famous who had those names. The most famous Geraldine is Geraldine Ferraro. So what about Ferraro as a mn? Ingrid Ferraro sounds kind of cool...

I agree, Ginger isnt something I would typically even think about but I think its kind of brilliant for Ingeborg and Geraldine. Good one, Khaleesi!! :p

In the same vein as Ginger, how about Imogine.

ITA! Very creative, I like this suggestion! It's a perfect mixture and not a name that's too far out there.
