Girl

Ryan August for a girl?
August was my grandpa's name and Ryan is a name I am toying with...
What do you think??

Re: Girl

Sounds pretty masculine. I really like August as middle or even first name even though it is considered masculine. I think it works as a uni-sex name. I just wouldn't pair it with Ryan.

Re: Girl

I would agree, for a little girl that's alot of masculine to get through. I would use either Ryan or August for a middle name and go with a more girly first name!

Re: Girl

Its a fine name, pretty masculine/unisex though.

Re: Girl

I have a close friend (girl) named Ryann - I love it especially spelled with 2 ns - and I know she has always loved it too. I also think the mn August is pretty

Re: Girl

I actually like both August and Ryan used as a MN for a little girl, but I don't like them paired together -- too masculine to me.

Re: Girl

Ryan Augusta would go well. My DD's name is Ryen. DH chose the spelling, I would have liked Ryenne or Ryanne better, but it works!

Re: Girl

It seems a little too masculine to me.

I personally like it.

Re: Girl

I see them both as masculine names. I agree changing the spelling would make a big difference!

Re: Girl

If you were asking for a male- absolutely! I LOVE Ryan August on a boy.
A girl? Not at all, it's so masculine.

Re: Girl

Awesome name for a boy. I like Ryann, pronounced rye-ANN, not Ryan for a girl.

I like it, I also like Reagan August for a girl

Sorry, I don't care for it for a girl.

Re: Girl

maybe spell it a little more feminine...like suggested above. Ryann or Rianne just a suggestion

Re: Girl

Definitely looks like a boy's name on paper. Ryan has been in / close to top 25 for YEARS for boys. It is barely in top 1,000 for girls. If your daughter ends up being a frilly princess she'll hate her name. :( At least give her one feminine option. I do like that you are honoring your Grandpa by using the name August! I'd use August as a mn and pick a feminine first name to pair it with. Maybe Rhiannon? Means 'divine queen' and has similar sound to Ryan...could even use Ryan as nn?? Ryan means "Little KING" I am sure she'd prefer to be a queen since she is a female!

Re: Girl

I don't love the name Ryan for a girl, but I've know girls named Ryan so it's not unheard of.

but do keep in mind that most people are going to call her "Ryan" no "Ryan August" because most people only use another person's first name when talking to them.
