For a boy? What do you think?

SchwarzeWitwe February 2nd, 2007 09:51 PM

Faulkner was a major alcoholic.

so do you like the name?

SchwarzeWitwe February 2nd, 2007 09:56 PM

No.

A) I'm not a fan of the surname-as-first name trend in the least.
B) You can't escape the association of the hard-drinking, womanizing writer.

Sorry.

Don't like it at all.

I don't like it at all...I always think Meet The Fockers when I hear this name because it's so similar.

That's the first thing I thought of.

I like it even if Faulkner was an alcoholic. He was still a great writer. I think any name you could come up with would have belonged to someone with an addiction at some point.

I did not think of Meet the Fockers. It doesn't sound similar enough to me. That's a really unfortunate association.

I think it's a good name. William Faulkner was a great writer, notwithstanding the fact that he had problems with alcohol. I don't see where the Meet the Fockers association comes from?

Focker sounds a tiny bit like Faulkner. And our popular culture being what it is, everyone little Faulkner meets will know more about the Fockers than about the writer William Faulkner.

A guy I went to school with had this as his lastname. I really dislike said person.
So, I have a horrible association with Faulkner.

MamaBx3 February 3rd, 2007 08:31 PM

I don't like it .
Sorry !

I usually like surnames for first names but not in this case.
