so lately I've been thinking alot about using Jillian if we have a girl. One of the reasons it really sticks out to me is it sounds like Julian (which we were thinking of using as a mn for a boy but honestly I don't like it that much personally, and I don't really care for any of the Jul- names for girls either), and Julian has a strong family connection in my DH's family.

The problem is I don't like Jill all that much as a nickname, and I love nicknames. I know if we do use it that down the line she might be Jill and I'm ok with that. If we used it I'd probably use a nickname like Fern or Jem (names/nicknames that I like but don't really have a full name to go with).. do you think that would be ok? Any other nickname ideas? What do you think of Jillian as a sister to Alaina (Lainey)? What would you name a twin sister or brother to Jillian? Thanks!

I really like Jillian. Like you, I don't love Jill, but I don't hate it either. She doesn't have to use a nickname if she doesn't like it. My name is Melissa and I have always disliked the nn Missy and therefore no one has ever called me that. I've always just gone by my full name. I think Jillian goes great with Alaina.

Jillian is actually an old form of Juliana, so it's a feminine form of Julian.

I think Jillian (nn Jem) goes great with Alaina! Seriously, I think they match perfectly.

I like A.L.C's recommendation of Lucy with Jillian. Alaina, Jillian, and Lucy would be such a fantastic sibling set!

For a boy, I like Oliver and Lucas with Jillian and Alaina.

I like the nn Jilly for Jillian. And, I think the name/nn go well with your first daughter's name.
