I have never felt so alone!

On Friday, 5/3 I went to the dr with really, really bad back pain. It was so bad I was crying. The dr said I had a really bad UTI and he could not rule out kidney stones and if it got worse to go to the ER. Well, it got worse, so late Friday evening, Jonah and I gave Sean the choice of babysitting or taking me to the hospital.

We went to the hospital, where, thankfully at 9 pm on a Fri nite, by some miracle it was not busy, and I was taken back within 15 minutes and within 30 minutes I had wonderful meds. I had not one but 2 kidney stones, 1 of which was the culprit of my pain.

That night Jonah went back home because all 3 kids were home and Sean had to be at a Sheriff's Explorer's event the Sat morning at 8 am and mom and dad were not home. At 8:30 my new urologist came in, told me everything that was going on and told me what was needed to be done. Then he dropped the bomb on me. I was going to surgery within the hour. I was terrified. No one was at the hospital with me and there was no one around that could keep my kids! You have to be at least 12 to come past the lobby at the hospital! I was in the hospital 45 min from home.

I went to the operating room completely and totally alone! I was scared and just wanted somebody there with me to tell me everything was going to be ok! Jonah did manage to pull off a miracle and find someone to keep the kids and was there that afternoon about 45 min after I got out of surgery. He got one of the scout leaders that we are good friends with to keep them. Sean got them when he was able to get home.

I had to have surgery again on Wednesday and mom kept the kids so Jonah was there for the entire thing! I felt much better just having someone with me! Now I am in the recovery phase of it and hoping there was no damage to the kidney! Six days in the hospital was enough!

Sorry you had to go through such an ordeal, Patty - I hope you're feeling a bit better now?

I understand that lonely feeling. In 2007 I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnanc & was told I'd need semi-urgent surgery. At the time I was in hospital alone - my Mum had to work, my Dad had Gaby, and my boyfriend at the time was also at work... Mum & my boyfriend were both going to come up after work, but neither made it before I was wheeled away to surgery.... I know just how scary and upsetting it is to not have anyone with you when something like that happens!

Oh Patty, that is awful. I hope you're feeling better now and recover quickly. I understand that dreaded feeling. My waters ruptured 9 weeks early with my last child, I was 4.5 hours away from my kids, family and friends, spent a week in hospital and then was rushed in for an emerg c-section all alone :( it's awful and so scary. I'm so glad you're doing okay now. :dothug:
