Seriously?

DD's SM is pregnant, due in October. Neither she nor XH are employed. They are on welfare. XH was a runner up in some space ship design contest for a video game recently (which he spent countless hours working on), and won 600$. He decides it's a good idea to spend $150 of it on video game content. I really hope SM ripped him a new one for that, but I doubt it.

Even more awesome, they moved to a new apartment/cabin/shack/whatever about three weeks ago, and no one ever answered the phone when I called repeatedly to talk to her. I finally found out from DD that they never hooked up the land line, and since they live out in BFE none of their cell phones get reception there. So she can only call me (or anyone) when they are in town.

I am so glad DD is moving back in with me at the end of the summer. I don't understand how two people in their 30's can be so immature.

You said you called repeatedly to talk to her? I certainly hope you did not call repeatedly to talk to her about her pregnancy. Honestly, whether you agree with it or not, considering he is your ex-husband, it is none of your business that she is now pregnant (I understand this will be your child's half sibling) and most certainly, you do NOT need to call repeatedly. Line hooked up or not, that comes off a bit clingy and unnecessary. Also, whether or not he spent money on the games? Yeah, maybe he shouldn't, but again, it's not your business to "hope SM ripped him a new one".

I called repeatedly to talk to DD. She is there until the end of the summer. Why on earth would you assume I wanted to talk to SM about the pregnancy? I get along fine with SM, even if I secretly think she is a ******* for having a baby when neither of them have jobs.

Also, I may not have a say in his life decisions, but I am certainly more than entitled to have an opinion about them. His choices do not only affect him. They affect me, my daughter, and my family. There is sure as hell nothing wrong with me anonymously venting about it.

Re: Seriously?

I would be wary of not having contact with my child at all while they are with the other parent. My phone doesn't work where my inlaws live, so hubby's ex can't text me to check on us... but she can at least call any one of the homes we could be at to say hi to him.

Believe me, I am not thrilled about it. She calls me when they are in town, but if I'm working I miss the chance to talk to her.

Hi! Please don't take 1 person's negative response as a reflection of this board. I would be upset if I couldn't have phone access to my child if they were with my ex. You have every right to your feelings and your concerns.

I'm glad your dd is coming to live with you at the end of summer. Sounds like a much better living situation.

I would lose my mind if I couldn't talk to my child :( I mean not even that but what if their was an emergency. With no reception or landline how do they call for help? they sound crazy irresponsible. Hugs.

Re: Seriously?

Yeah. I hope they have neighbors close by at least. :( DD didn't know exactly why they hadn't hooked the phone up, or when it would be done. I know when I had lived in that area when we were still married we had to pay $200 for the phone company to run a line out to our cabin once, so maybe that's why. They have no money, so that would make sense.
