Adverse affects of antibacterial soap on lactating infants

Just wanted to share an article about a recent animal study conducted by the Department of Public Health at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, that provided supporting evidence for the potential adverse effects of triclocarban (a chemical in antibacterial soaps and other personal care items) exposure during early life, specifically during the lactation period: Chemical in Anti-bacterial Soap Harmful to Nursing Infants

Thanks for posting this--I'm glad to read it. I've avoided triclosan containing products for years, because I feel like they contribute to bacterial resistance, and they aren't nearly as effective as they would need to be to do any good. They might kill off some of the weaker bacteria, leaving the stronger one behind to keep on reproducing. I haven't read the study mentioned in the article, so I'm not sure of the specifics, but it definitely sounds like one more reason to avoid these products.
