I think Keelan has a lip tie.

And I think it might be why I keep getting sores on my nipples where his top teeth rest. I think if the tie was clipped it might let him get a better latch. He's 25.5 months old. I wonder ... is it too late to get it corrected?

I don't know...I wouldn't think it would be too late, but I really don't know. I guess it's worth checking into!

Never too late but they usually will not clip if it isn't presenting any real issues with nursing, teeth, or speech and you have been successfully breastfeeding for over 2 years. They usually break on their own when they fall down

It's not too late and only the doctors who are not up to date with the current guidelines on tongue and lip ties are the one will recommend not treating until they have problems after their adult teeth come in etc... I have a lot of experience with tongue and lip and refer patients often to dentists for treatment and if you tell me where you are located, I can recommend a doctor who will treat now.

Not so successfully. I've had cuts on my nipples from his teeth/bad latch 4 times and in pain off and on for the last 18 months.

It is something to look into then! I have heard laser works better than cutting though if you have a pediatric dentist in your area who does that

I'm in Maryland. Close to Westminster, Frederick and Baltimore if I had to.

Here's a link to a tongue tie support group. You will be able to find providers in your area. Just ask. Hope it helps!
