So we've had a rocky start. My son was born in May and had a two week nicu stay. During that time we found out he has hypopituitarism and hypothyroidism. Tough pill to swallow, but both are manageable with medication. Now the medication is just part of the day and we don't even stress. But this past week we were referred to an ophthalmologist and learned that he also has optic nerve hypoplasia. On the spectrum, his lack of vision is severe. The doctor said his vision would be poor. So I guess he has some, but he's too young for us to really know how much. I'm more unhappy about that one because there's no cure and no treatment. We got another referral to a center for the blind (break my heart) and they are supposed to be amazing.
So that's...what's going on. Hi!
I'm sorry your little guy has so many challenges to deal with :(
We deal with daily meds, too (meds for heart failure when my youngest was an infant and now epilepsy meds), and most of the time it isn't too bad. She went through periods where she fought those meds with everything in her but at almost-three, she understands they make her feel better and she reminds me if I don't get them out right on time :)
