unknown cause of diarrhea

Keegan (2yrs) has had diarrhea for over a week now, with about 3 loose stools a day and i cannot for the life of me figure out why.

we haven't changed any foods he's been eating. nobody (as far as i know) is sick at daycare and none of us are sick. for the first few days i wrote it off as maybe yucky food or a little stomach bug. but we're going on like 10 days in a row now.

DH and i are going to take him into the clinic and check it out, but i'm not holding my breath for any answers because when Kale was younger, this happened to him from time to time. there would be a week or two straight of diarrhea, then nothing. then a few months later, another week or so. we thought he was lactose intollerant and it started right after i weaned him from nursing but we had started him on formula. so we switched to Soy formula and that really didn't seem to make all that much difference.

any ideas?

Re: unknown cause of diarrhea

*update*

keegan is still having pretty consistand diarrhea. i swear we're now on a first-name basis with urgent care.

we've had him tested for almost everything seems like; viruses, celiac, bacteria, the PH balance in his stool, everything is coming back just fine. they keep telling us he's healthy.

we rearranged his entire diet, thinking maybe it was the gluten, and that hasn't helped. we've cut out dairy for a good three weeks, that didn't help. we've now cut out all fruit juices, and he gets very limited intake of fruits & veggies (due to their water content, could make it worse). he only drinks about three cups of milk a day, the rest of the time he gets water or soy milk. we've cut him down to a low carb, low fat diet, per the doctor. NOTHING IS HELPING!

after three months of fighting with our local clinic, we've finally gotten a referral to a pediactric gastrointerologist to see what is wrong with him. sounds spendy but if it will get him to move his bowels normally, then i'll do anything.
