I would say it would be better to stay home. I know they have resources to help pay for childcare. But I stay home for that exact reason. Hubby is in the navy so we make pretty good money plus housing. My mom is currently raising my neice and its 675 a month at the day care she is at. It depends on the daycare. If the child goes full time its actually less expensive than part time. I would think that it should be okay as long as you still have insurance and feel comfortable. You could give it a trial run and check out several day cares in your area and make a list of how much you would spend on day care and how much you would loose if you didnt work. etc.

When you add all the costs, (ie. daycare, gas money, clothes for work, eating out for lunch) I think it adds up. I would much rather be a SAHM then have someone else watch my child. You'll probably really have to budget, but since you're not rollin' in the dough right now, it might be worth it.

I think it would save more to be a SAHM, at least in your case. Maybe you could get a little part-time job on your bf's days off if you want/need a little extra cash.

Right now, its not a problem for us. I work at night, and BF works during the day. So we don't have to put Spencer in day care, but when I was still going to school, we had to and dang was it expensive! Still not sure what were going to do when this one arrives. It'll depend on what kind of job I get, I just graduated in May so I'm still looking.
