Hey Everyone. I am so sorry I have missed everyone.
Annika is doing wonderfully. I have a doctor's appoinment on Monday for my two week check up. Annika has her two week check up on Wednesday. As Nicole was saying, Annika is taking out and putting her paci back into her mouth. Is this normal? The nursery nurse says that she has seen some babies do it on occasion. The reason I went ahead and allowed Annika a paci (NUK ortho) was because she was using me as her paci. She sucked her thumb in the womb and is content sucking at times. She doesn't use it all the time. As a matter of fact she doesn't have hers right now. I learned the hard way that if she's fed, clean and still fussing then she's looking for something. The paci seemed to take care of that something.
I felt bad because Thursday night it seemed that all she wanted to do was nurse. She didn't want to sleep and nothing I did could console her. We were both in tears. The nursery nurse said it was perfectly normal and took her to the nursery for a couple of hours. I felt totally guilty about this. She has been eating like a champ and we have had very few latch problems. The few we have had were because her and I were both frustrated and we couldn't seem to meet in the middle.
We have had our few mishaps. Annika pooped on me twice today. I think she did it on purpose because she got a little grin on her face.
I hope that everyone is doing wonderfully. I will post pictures just as soon as I can. I think it's time to get Annika up and see if she wants to eat. If she doesn't she'll just stay asleep. I worry sometimes because it seems that she sleeps too much. She has plenty of wet diapers though, plenty of dirty diapers and is a hearty feeder most of the time. There are times when it seems that she falls asleep too soon though but I guess I'll figure it out.
