I didn't have insurance either, I'm in a slightly different situation in that im an international student, I had health insurance but i would have had to be with my provider a year before i could add maternity.
But I went to the local health clinic who were great and told me about a government sponsored insurance plan that is just for when you are pregnant until the baby is born and I qualified for it.
I would go and check at your health department there can give you some really great advice it helped me out a lot!
I have just found myself in the same exact position. Contact your local Health Dept. first. They automatically perform a pregnancy test (for verification...for some reason the pee stick doesn't count...) and have you fill out paperwork for Medicaid and WIC and other assistance forms. While you may not qualify for Medicaid, there is a Pregnancy Medicaid that you should qualify for (being uninsured, pregnant) and will cover you through your pregnancy.
There are also tons of websites dedicated to helping women in our situations. Google assistance for pregnancy/pregnant women uninsured.....one of the websites I found was Nuturing Network. Long questionnaire, but tons of help.
