Hey all. Well as most of you know, this is my first, so I'm new to all of this. Ever since last week, I've found that I'm feeling an unusual amount of pressure in my lower abdomen, bladder and () na-na...Then with my doc telling me the baby is in the head down position I'm starting to think that it's making a big difference in the way that I feel physically. I've had TONS of braxton hicks this week, like today for example, I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said I was getting one every 10-15 minutes...They're not really painful, but they're not comfortable! The fatigue is nearly unbearable....I don't know! I know I just sound like I'm a big stupid complainer, but I'm just wondering if the amount of "contractions" that I'm having are normal...Like I said, they're not painful per say, they're stronger than the ones I used to have. I guess it's normal at this point.
Also for those of you who have had babies before, this question might sound weird, but can you feel yourself dilating down there? I've been getting this strange, sort of painful feeling in that "area" so I was wondering if this was what it could be. It's like a quick cramp in the cervix or something...I dunno, have any of you felt that?
AH! Well at least I know this is all normal! Thanks for replies! Oh, and happymommyof1, I've been doing that "getting on all fours" thing tons of times this past week. And you're right it really does help. It takes all the pressure off my aching back. I recommend it to anyone who has a sore back. As for the pains down there, it's a different pain than her kicking me there, because she does that often too! lol This is like an actual mini cramp...it lasts about 20 seconds then goes away...It's a sharp pain too...like something pointy is is trying to poke through...lol Sounds nasty doesn't it?
Oh I remember those feelings all too well. I got so many braxton hicks with Liam I would lay in bed for hours at night timing them til they went away. And they didn't hurt but they were uncomfortable. Once that little head goes down there is so much more pressure, at least for me. Liam was a belly sleeper even inside me and he would push his head and hands down while sticking his butt up and into my ribs/lungs--I couldn't breathe and was forever pushing his little chunky butt down out of my ribs. He still prefers to sleep this way! I never felt myself dilate or efface. My first internal at 35 weeks I was so annoyed to hear I had nothing happening--even after ALL those braxton hicks. The next week I was 1cm and just starting to soften then we did a lot of traveling for Christmas that weekend and I was so incredibly sore dow there, it felt like he was going to fall out and when I got to the dr that week (37 weeks 1 day) I was 1 1/2cm and 75% effaced! No wonder I was so sore, I could barely sit because it felt like I was sitting on him. I gave birth 3 days later (in about 6 1/2 hrs from the time my water broke-contractions started an hour later- til he came out)! Your little girl will be here before you know it, enjoy the last few weeks! I miss it so much, I can't wait to be pregnant again!
