Just found out that I may be anywhere between 8 - 11 weeks pregnant and still have Mirena IUD in place. I go tomorrow for ultrasound & Dr. visit. From everything I read, they are going to recommend taking it out now if they can. Can anyone tell me if they have had a successful pregnancy with an IUD still in? So little is known / published about this as well as any possible birth defects, etc... Can anyone else relate!?!??! Thanks !!!

I got pregnant on the depo but a good friend of mine became pregnant with an old school cooper IUD back in the day....she decided to leave it in and had a very healthy boy!

A close friend got pregnant with a copper IUD in . They removed it and she has a healthy 3 year old. The sooner they remove it the better chance you have of continuing the pregnancy. I've read that risks of taking it out include misscarriage, infection, pre-term labor, early delivery, and some women need a cerclage after removal.
