I'm not as far along as you but I don't have any yet thank goodness. I've been slathering on a lotion called Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks. Not sure if they have that there in Ireland. Lemme know and I'll send you a couple bottles if they don't!

Drink lots of water. Hydration will help more than lotion.

But overall it seems like you get them or you don't and it doesn't matter a whole lot what you do about it.

been using that since i found out i was pregnant! I strongly reccommend using beths tip about the baby oil too, before you get any at all!
I did notice that the palmers got rid of the stretch marks i already had on my thighs rho, so i'm hoping with constant use the belly ones will go away too.

palmers has a formula called tummy butter that actually helps heal the stretch marks... it has collegin (no i can't spell today) in it that helps close the marks if you will... someone also told me about olive oil, like the kind you cook with but personally i couldnt' walk around all day smelling like noodles... lol

after you have the baby... I suggest going to the tanning bed... there are tanning lotions that actually have chemicals in them to reduce wrinkles, stretch marks and even cellulite... and the uv rays even help fade the stretch marks.... it doesn't take long either maybe 2 months depending on your skin type.... not to mention that tanning, if you do it right, is good for you... uv rays release endorphins and sunlight helps clear up acne as well...

can you tell i use to manage a tanning salon??

I use Mother's Special Blend Oil and cocoa butter lotion 3 to 5 times a day... have since I found out I was pregnant... On wed I'll be 38 weeks. No stretchmarks **YET**

I was also told to make sure to slather up lots after giving birth...

Healthy diet, lots of water and exercise also helps reduce the chances of getting stretch marks...

But, sadly Genetics usually win these types of battles no matter what we do.

i'll try and avoid getting more, but as lvfunandfit says, genetics always win. no point getting upset with them!

Well girls I think the hydration thing is so true! If you are healthy and take care of yourself from the inside, most of the time the outside will follow. I have three kids and absolutely NO stretch marks on my stomach, I have a few on my sides, but not very visable. I used a lot of lotions (I probably went over board), but my second son Jesse was born in May and I was wearing a bikini by memorial day. I didn't notice any stretch marks while I was pregnant at all - the ones I do have showed up after delivery. You can only do so much (eating and drinking healthy and lotions) and then it is just out of your hands.

I think something that may be working in my favor is I was a manager at Bath & Body Works for several years and became addicted to body cream. So I slather it all over my body every day regardless of being pregnant. Now I just do it even more.

I did nothing to prevent or get rid of mine with any of my pregnacies. They always go away, just in time for me to be pregnant again.

I'm not trying to sound discouraging but you can use all the cocoa butter in the world and drink water like a fish-if you are destined to get them, you will get them. I used cocoa butter twice a day and ate healthy and drank a ton of water my whole pregnancy and still got a bunch on my tummy They fade in time but they never go away Embrace them, they are your battle scars!
