Hi girls, tomorrow I go for my first prenatal doctor's visit. Since I'm new to all this, I'm wondering what I can expect from this visit? Typically, what happens during this visit and what tests will the doc perform? Thanks.
in the first visit you can expect alot of questions. just about your general health, about babies daddys background, your menstral history, any medication you've been taking, things like that. then they'll do blood tests to check what blood type you are, in case of an emergency and what you are immune to. they will also test for any sexually transmitted diseses that could effect your baby (you can opt out of those tests if you prefer) and they check for rhesus compatibility. they'll check your urine too, just to see if theres any sugar or protien, which is a sign of infection and needs antibiotics. your blood pressure and weight will be checked too.
they generally have a feel around your abdomen to check for cysts and they may also check your cervix.
different doctors do things differently, so if they dont do everything i have listed or they do more, dont panic! and let us know how it goes!!!!
