I heard that eating pineapple will bring on labour. I am not sure if that is true or not but try it, if it does not work at least you'll get some fruit!

I can tell you that sex should lead you to start labor. It can cause the uterus to contract when you O - so I've heard.

With my daughter we decided to try this and did it every day beginning at 36-weeks, although I got really tired of it, I'm pretty sure it worked because she came 2 1/2 weeks early.

It's worth a try.

I have tried them ALL!

Fresh pineapple - Ate this religiously, never put me in labor, just gave me nasty mouth sores

Evening Primrose oil- this is supposted to soften your cervix. I used them vaginally (like 3 per day) and I believe they did help efface my cervix more. But they sure are messy if you use them vaginally.

Walking - I walked on the treadmill for at least a half hour every day....didnt put me in labor!

Sex - Nothing....

Bumpy roads - Gave me some contrax that eventually went away

Castor oil- This DID put me into labor. I drank like 2 tblsp. mixed with OJ (pretty nasty, Im not gonna lie) at about 9 PM and had strong contax by 11:30 PM. I went to the hospital at 4 Am that morning and started pushing my DD out at 3 PM!!

******Why did I try all of this, you ask???? I wanted so badly to give birth before Xmas. And I did!

I was a week early but I DONT recommend self-inducing labor until you are a week or less away from your due date. I dont believe anything will work until the baby is ready anyway.

I really want to give birth before Christmas too. Mostly because my mom and my family are all like, "You can NOT have the baby on Christmas!" And I want my mom to be there with me.

My due date was Dec. 30th! But then when I had the 20 wk ultrasound they said the baby was more like 21 wks, so I always said my due date was what they told me, the 25th.....

anyway, maybe when it comes time you could ask the doc if he would be willig to induce you. A LOT of first time moms go past their due date though..

there is no hope of them inducing me until i'm 14 days overdue, and even then if the baby looks alright they'll leave it another few days. things are alot more relaxed here than in the states, theres very rarely any medical intervention.

thats why i'm trying the old wives tales!

Wow 2 whole weeks overdue!!!!!

Well I hope you dont go that late, just remember when the baby wants out, your body will evict it.

My doctor will also not induce before 42 weeks unless there are severe problems with the baby. I'm already a day overdue, and hoping something happens soon. Sex and long walks seem to trigger contractions, but they have not been actual labor. I'm too chicken and afraid of somehow hurting Anna to really try much else to induce.

I guess that means that we have to give Anna her eviction notice!!!

Anna, time to get out!! Your mommy and daddy are anxious to meet you now!!
