I know there is a breastfeeding board but it is pretty dead lately. I am still breastfeeding my almost 21 month old son and am soo torn on how to wean am. I love our breastfeeding relationship but I don't want to do this forever, lol! I was thinking I would stop before he is 2 years old in September so I still have a few months to go. I wasn't able to breastfeed my daughter so I don't have any prior experience. My family isn't exactly supportive and their big joke is that "I couldn't breastfeed my daughter and now I can't stop breastfeeding my son." People also assume I got pregnant again because I used breastfeeding as BC and they like to remind me that breastfeeding isn't a reliable form of BC, which I think is funny because that's not what happened in my case. So does anyone have experience breastfeeding and eventually weaning a toddler?

I've never known anyone, IRL, to nurse past 13 or 14 months but I'm sure the same weaning philosophy would apply. Everyone has said their kids stopped having interest and wanted a cup and food more of the time. So during the times they would usually nurse their kids they would offer a cup instead and ignore the whining when and if it came but it was usually short lived. I've been nursing for 7 months (longest I ever have) and am looking into weaning at 12 months and I'm dreading it but at the same time I'm excited to reclaim my boobs
