how do you get your cleaning chores done with the kids around? especially looking for tips if you have a child that is clingy and makes it hard to get anything done.

I don't clean much. I also don't cook much. That is my best tip.

most cleaning gets done by dh and once the kids are in bed; mine aren't too clingy and if they cling I hand them a cleaning cloth

LOOOOOVE it!!

I do stuff that requires both hands while my 9 month old is down for his morning nap. I do dinner prep stuff when he's down (and my 2 year old as well) for his afternoon nap. The others are fine to play in the playroom, eat a snack or watch a show while I do chores in the morning, then the girls usually play outside while I prep dinner.

I do stuff as it needs to be done during the day, as the kids are picking up toys before bath and bed I will vaccum and then once they are down for the night I will mop the floors, breakfast and lunch dishes get done after lunch and dinner dishes either before baths at night or after the kids are asleep for the night (by hand) if I don't get around to dishes after lunch I will put everything in the dish washer and run it while I give the kids a bath and get them ready for bed. because I can dry diapers outside now I throw a load of them in in the morning and hang them out to dry once they are done washing then I throw a load of clothes in. Everything else is just spot cleaning when I get a chance. I make sure bathrooms are done once a week and wipe up any misses the boys may do when I spot them. Chase was very clingy when he was a baby I found the moby wrap a big help for crying fits or I would just let him cry for a few min while I got what I needed to do done.

I try to clean when they are supposed to have down time. I put in a movie, lay them down for a nap or I let them read books.

They aren't to clingy but Sam usually prefers to help me clean anyways

I try and involve Alyssa and Rylan in some of the simpler chores (dusting, laundry, cleaning their room..), I load the dishwasher, sweep, etc while they're occupied with something else (lately with Sophia in her wrap). Scrubbing and things like that are usually at naptime or after they're in bed.

I like flylady too, and also recently started using monday as laundry day, tuesday kitchen dy, wednesday is office day, thursday town day, friday cleaning day, saturday outside (car garage etc), and sunday is the lord's day when I don't do much. you can switch the days up however you want but it helps to have a day each week for those things so that nothing gets too far behind and you know when you last did eerything... Both of your kids are old enough for a few chores... make a chart with stickers or whateer you think will work. start the older one with things like picking up her clothes and putting them in the hamper, picking up her books/toys, and anything else you want her to do right now. the younger one can start with following you around when you clean *i'm guesssing she's the clingy one? if you are wiping down the taable after a meal hand her a wet cloth and let her rub her chair or something. her things right now will be more just watching you and feeling like she's doing it too. (or he, can't remember is the little one a boy or girl?)
