I have heard that during pregnancy your nipples and areolas get larger and darker. I am actually dreading this, and am wondering when this ussually happens, or if you are ever out of the woods on this one. Also, do they ever go back? Same question for the dark line on your belly (linea negra). Thanks.
The nipples go dark almost imediately,by the time you are about 12 weeks they are a very dark brown colour and the areola is quite a bit bigger due to the breast swelling. The linea negra comes up once the skin on the tummy is stretched so Id say about 5-6 months depending on how big you are.It gets alot darker towwards the end of pregnancy..I do actually know a few people who didnt get it because they never got very big or because they were very white skinned.
Both of these symptoms go away within a couple of weeks of giving birth.
Mine never went dark, just got bigger but it was so gradual I didn't really notice. I never got the linea nigra in all 4 pregnancies. We recently had a thread about linea nigra in my DDC: http://www.justmommies.com/boards/index.ph...c=304768&hl
There doesn't seem to be any factors determining if you will get it or not, we are all different skin tones and expecting different sexes but some have it some don't. We never had the nipple question so i can only answer for myself
