Do you realize that "prop 4" was not a national issue? I don't know what state you are from and it is likely that the vast majority of people have no idea what "prop 4" is.

Yes, I meant to say if you lived in california. Sorry. Prop 4 is wether or not you feel that parents should be informed/consent if their under aged teen is getting an abortion. How would you have voted?

Of course they should be informed, infact, they should have to sign a concent form first. If something went wrong in the operating room, what would happen? Thats MY child in there,I dont care weather shes 14 or 40!.Also,when the minor is sent home, they will need looking after etc,so obviously the parents should know about the situation.
Teens have rights,yes-and I would never argue with my daughter if she wanted an abortion, but I am her mother and have the right to know whats going on so that I can take care of her and support her,no matter how against her desition I am.

Needing a parent to sign a concent form shouldent just be so that the parent can refuse (which I dont think they should). Its also proof that the parent is at least informed.

I dont live in California but I absolutely believe that it is a parent's right to know if their child (especially a minor!) is having a medical procedure. If I ever found out someone operated on my daughter without my ever even knowing about it there would be some SERIOUS hell to pay for that physician.

I believe a parent should be informed, but unless then kid is under 13 I honestly don't think the parent should be able to prevent it. But being informed is a must.

I had a suction aspiration termination (preemptive as I'd have needed a D&C anyways after the baby passed) in 2005, and had my mother and grandmother not been watching me carefully I'd never have picked up that I looked pale and had an infection from a perforated uterus. I felt fine, fever wasn't there yet.. but they knew I looked off and carted me to the dr. If they hadn't known what I'd had done, they woudln't have thought anything about it!

I would have voted for it. I think it's my right as a parent to know what is going on with my child. Heck, you can't even get a tattoo/piercing without consent before age 18!
