Perhaps viability will be re-defined sometime soon.

That really is astonishing. I really hope they all do well from here on out! What a blessing for her parents to have such an amazing outcome, it truly has never happened before. I hope they feel very blessed.

Hmm. I would say just more evidence we're darn lucky to have the right medical intervention when needed.

I stated that this is more evidence that abortion is murder because there are strange people out there that think a baby is not a baby until they are full term and birthed but this child was only 21 weeks when born and was a baby before birth. There are children "aborted" or killed in other words at this age and even further on and it is so wrong. I don't know how people can live with themselves after having their unborn child killed intentionally.By the way, an unborn baby is a baby developing and it is disgusting that people do this act and get away with it. They think they have gotten away with it on earth but they will not have when the soon return of Jesus happens and everyone is JUDGED.I pray all abortors and people who have had an abortion will repent and change.

Who needs to wait for the Apocolypse, when we have judge and jury right here on JM!! Since even science cannot agree on when a fetus becomes a life, I am not just ready to agree with your amatuer assesment. This child is, undoubtedly, a miracle, but it is a testament to medical advances that this child is alive, had she been born without medical assistance and not kept alive via medical technology this story would not have had the ending it did.

Speaking of Jesus, what was that part in the Bible about judging?? Oh yeah, Matt 7:1 "Judge not lest ye be judged" and there was that other one, hmmmm....what was it again? Oh yeah, John 8:7, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

If we didn't have the medical advances we have, that 21 week old fetus would be dead. Who's fault would that be? With my interpretation of the logic you have here, if abortion is murder, is Jesus guilty of murdering fetuses with all the miscarriages that occur daily? I don't think so.

From the article:

She was delivered because her mother was suffering from complications. Fassbach said that if doctors had known Amillia’s real gestational age, they might not have intervened. He said he thought she was at least 23 weeks, and doctors were shocked when the Taylors’ fertility specialist pinpointed the exact date of fertilization.[/b]
Did anybody else wonder what the Doc meant by this?

Our oldest was born at 25 weeks. I have a soft spot in my heart for preemies and their families.

Commonly 24 weeks is the threshold of viability.. The doctors believe that anyway. So I would imagine ethically they would have held off 3 more weeks (or allowed a miscarriage to happen.) I think that's what they meant.

They don't want to re-define the age of viability off of this one case.. and I think the OP is kinda asking, why not?
