I am not sure if this has been debated, but what do you think are good reasons to have an abortion?

Obviously that is a matter of opinion and opinions are going to differ. But here are mine:

Good reasons:
She will get fired if she continues her pregnancy
Her SO or family is abusive
She lacks the money or support or resources to continue her pregnancy
Rape/incest
She is an addict and if she continues her pregnancy the child could be born with many problems and no one will want to adopt that child

ITA.

I really don't know if there is a bad reason to have an abortion.. If a person can't be a parent I see no reason to force someone else to pick up that possible baby. It's not fair to the possible baby, the person forced to carry it, the system forced to support it or the rest of society to adopt it, let alone to the health carrier of this possible baby.

Yes, one high profile case was Hunter Tylo suing Aaron Spelling when he fired her from Melrose Place after finding out she was pregnant.
I am sure, to regular everyday people, it happens on a consistent basis. Women, you know, can't be mothers and responsible employees.

I agree with all of these. I don't know if there is a bad reason, as Michelle said. If a woman feels that she can not or does not want to carry a pregnancy to term, she shouldn't be forced to.

Who am I to judge what is a valid enough reason for someone to have an abortion? Honestly, if it's valid for the woman and she's at peace with her decision, the more power to her.

I agree with the previous posters that state that it is not my place to judge when it is appropriate for a woman to acquire a legal medical procedure performed on her own body.

For me personally, never. Its NEVER acceptable. For general cases, MAYBE for life threating situations ONLY if its early in the pregnancy. I dont ever EVER agree with partial birth abortion.

If someone else chooses to have an abortion for whatever reason, they should be free to do so.

Would I ever have an abortion for any reason? No. It's more a personal view than one related to ethical beliefs or religious views.

I never understand the concept of how people can say that abortion is not acceptable when the mother's life is at risk. What is the point of having both the mother and the baby die? To each their own, I guess.

Life threat to the mother. As obviously if you lose both then what good has that done, but if you can save one by losing the other then ok. Just like siamese twins, both may die if they stay together, seperate and one may live and one may die. Same thing, you choose to let one go in order to save one.

I wouldn't agree in any of these cases, but I think that when the life of the mother is in danger, it's a good reason to have an abortion.

And about the Melrose Place incident... she did win the lawsuit, so I think that is a terrible reason to have an abortion. No job is worth that.

Exactly.. go on the ddc's and do random polls. You'll see it here too.

Many women wanting abortions have kids and can't afford to lose their jobs to fight in court.

There is never a good reason to have an abortion because it is the murder of an unborn child.

Yes, let's make sure that we kill all those women who would die without an abortion because it is their fault they are in that situation

If you are responsible enough to open your legs and have sex with or without protection then you need to know that you can get pregnant with protection and you should be responsible enough to take care of and raise your child if you get pregnant. You are supposed to love your children enough to die for them and being pregnant is being a mother and I personally took that chance when I was pregnant with my daughter because of my heart problem. My heart rate was up to 180 for hours and they had to give me IV meds 2 times that stopped my heart for 10 seconds in order to try to regulate my heart rhythm.I was 13 weeks pregnant with her at that time and it was from my sinus tachycardia and "morning sickness" so bad I always was throwing up.I love my daughter and have since the home test was positve.

Yes it does. I used to work for a construction company. You can bet that if I had ever gotten pregnant while I worked there I would have been fired. I would not have been able to do my job, that's why. A person can't lift 40 pound bags of concrete when they are pregnant.
