Okay, Kristin, this is what I NEED from you:

HPV/Gardasil
Vitamin K
Hepatitis A
Meningitis/Meningococcal
Varicella
Newborn eye drops

Since school starts soon and the TX requirements have changed, I may need to argue some of these. And the doctor was pushing the HPV big time, so when I go back there, I may need to be armed with some useful easy to understand information. And of course the vit k and eye drops because I need to figure out if Snowflake will be getting either of them...

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Will do! I'm not as "up" on HPV/Gardisil, but I'll research it to death. Vitamin K and eye drops are fairly fresh since I discussed both with the midwife before Milly came. I'll get right to work on these.

If anyone else has requests, feel free to post 'em here.

Kristin... oh Kristin... I need some good info on Meningitis/Meningococcal and I'll have to check your Tdap thread, but do they have just a tetanus shot and do you have any info on that? These are the two they are trying to push on middle school and I told the doctor no and she seemed fine with it, but if she asks, I want to be ready with answers

There IS a "tetanus only" shot...I'll have to dig a little on that one for you. Didn't seem terribly important to me when the girls were babies since they weren't barefoot around rusty nails or anything...but I remember having to get it myself before college. That thing HURT. I'll do my homework...

Meningitis is actually one of the FEW (maybe the only) that really scares me...but not enough to vax Milly for it, at least not yet. I actually made a post about it on the Choosing Not to Vax board a while back and forgot about it - thanks for the reminder! You can read the response I got HERE (Someone refresh my memory about Hib?). I'll be back with more. And kick me if I forget.

Is the HIB vaccine the same one they give to teenagers now for Meningitis?

Also, when you look into just the Tetanus... is it "good enough" to get the shot after you step on something rusty? The only reason I worry about that one... well, 2 reasons... Kaeli likes to run around barefoot. As much as we tell her to put shoes on, I constantly find her outside without them (they're thrown to the side) and when I send her off to camp - I worry that there might be something there she could get cut on. But, I'm not sure if I should worry or not. If you can just get the tetanus shot after and it's fine?

See, I've really only researched vaxes as they apply to babies/children so far...so I'm not sure! Seems like the tetanus shot after the fact is good enough for adults, so I assume it would work for Kaeli too...but assumptions aren't good enough for me, so I'll go digging for an answer. Not sure about the HiB either, I think it may be different for older kids...
