Do you think that your pets know that you are pregnant? Are they sensing something is going on? How are they acting differently, or are they?

When I was pg with ds I had a cat and she definitely knew! She insisted on lying on my tummy at all times - like she was incubating an egg. She just became EXTREMELY clingy. Towards the end, as my tummy grew, she layed right next to it but never on it... very protective of me.

I'm sure my dog knows. He's acting the same way he did when I was pregnant with Ava. He's always nearby, if not ON me. Thank goodness he's a fairly small dog

two of my male cats are always clingy, and still are. My dog is not acting really any differently, not sure if she knows something is up or not.
Wish my bird would clue in, then maybe, just maybe she wouldn't be some dang loud in the evening!

Oh god yes... he always was very clingy, but now he gets jealous if DH talks to y belly or rubs it and starts "crying" (you know, that annoying sound they make to let you know they want something too LOL)
I can´t sit of the couch without having his head on my tummy (well, it slips down because my tummy is big but always near) and he wants to play with me ALL THE TIME!
Sometimes I get tired of it but most of the time I love that he´s concerned we´re not gonna pay attention to him LOL

My golden retriever Lou definitely knows. He's normally really hyper but is very calm around me. He lays a lot with his head in my lap just staring at me. That's not like him at all. My chihuahua may know. He's just acting like a bigger baby than usual so he may be jealous. He normally sleeps with me every night but the last month or so he won't come into my room at all. His previous owner had a baby so he may just recognize the baby stuff. He's content sleeping with DD now.

my cats are driving me nuts!! they are normally friendly and loving but they are being ridiculous! they are following me around everywhere and crying and want to be in my lap 24/7.
sam...i had a bird when i was pregnant with emerson. he was a great bird but never clued into the whole baby thing and once we brought emerson home, he was very upset! he started pulling out his feathers and screeching all the time. unfortunately we had to get rid of him for his own sake.

I don't think my dog knows. He likes to lay on my belly, but he always has. He is acting more clingy and solemn lately but I think it's because our cat is no longer with us. I think he's just lonely.

I think most of the are clueless. I think our female cat may know somethings up because she is more clingy than usual. She also started snuggling with me at night and she didn't do that before. She won't snuggle with dh either, it's kinda funny!

i dont know! i ask my husband all the time if he thinks my dog knows. Husband doesnt think so...he does however, joke that she (the dog) just thinks i'm getting fat. like she's thinking "gee...mom needs to cut back on the cupcakes...have you seen the size of her belly lately??".
But seriously, I dont think she or my cat have noticed a thing. I'm pretty sure my animals are very self involved...and are much too busy with themselves to notice a change. They're gonna be in for a rude awakening in January, when i bring home the new, "pink, hairless pet" that takes up all of my time.

This is crazy, but my one dog always will come up to me and start licking my belly. He only started doing it in last maybe 12 weeks or so. Both dogs are constantly barking now too.

I think my doberman knows, he is usually very clingy (like dobies are), but these days he follows me all the time & just stares at me. It's strange & it's hard to have an 80lb+ dog sit in my lap lol

ditto.
last time my mother's cat was like that with me and this time my cat is exactly the same way. I cannot get a break from her and it is starting to wear me out but I do love her.
My husband's male cat doesnt really want anything to do with me when he used to love me.

We have 3 cats... My cat (well the one I claim) follows me and doesn't leave me for very long. If I'm on the couch, so is he. Right now he's laying next to the bed and when I go take a shower, he'll lay on the bath mat next to the tub.

hmmm I wondered if they noticed or not. My beagle never steps on my stomach anymore (she weighs 20 lbs) but I think that's only because every time she has tried over the past several months she gets yelled at "Don't step on the baby!!" so she has just learned to step around the belly.
I think one of our chiweenie's just figured out something is up last week. He was laying with me and he got kicked. He was very confused and just sniffed my belly for 5 minutes trying to figure out how i did it.

I am sure if they know or not. Our cats are too self involved to care about anyone else in the house! They always lounge around the house all day wanting to be left alone until they feel it is time for their rub down, then they won't leave you alone. Our dogs have always been super clingy and have always followed us around, they never want to be away from us. Our smaller dog isn't much of a cuddler, but he likes to sleep near me; the big one on the other hand thinks she weighs 5 pounds and loves to snuggle as close to you as possible. It was kind of funny though, the other day I was laying on the floor and she came up and rested her big head on my belly and every time the baby kicked she would move her head to a different spot, then she would get kicked again and would move her head somewhere else! These spoiled rotten furbabies are going to be in for a big surprise come January!!
