Ok, last one here.. sorry, I havent been on here in so long... So all my questions are coming out tonight!!

What is the policy in your hospital for having other children visit when baby is born?? I am not allowed to let Jack come and visit.. infact no one under the age of 18 is allowed.. because of the flu..

Don't know what the policy is for after baby is here but when in labor there is only one person allowed to be with the mother at the local hospital I'd transfer too if needed... BUT since we're planning a homebirth, whomever we decide can come over will be allowed to. Our kids will most likely be here for the baby's birth too.

My hospital has the exact same policy. Neither my 13-yr old or my 4-yr old will be allowed to visit.

For now, my hospital's policy is no children under the age of 4, and everyone else must be screened for the flu before entering L & D. If you have the flu, or symptoms of it, you are not allowed in.

At this point there haven't been any changes in visitation policy due to the flu... so right now it's the same as when I had DS, which is: no children under the age of 13 is even allowed on that hospital floor, EXCEPT siblings of the newborn. Any number of visitors older than 13 are allowed after the baby is born, but during delivery two support people are allowed.

No changes....my kids did a sibling class on Saturday...and we all were allowed to go into the maternity ward, nursery, and a L&D room. I was really surprised by that!

Any one I want can be there for labor, delivery and after baby is born.
A girl I know when she had her baby they didnt have a sitter for her son except for during her actual csection and so he stayed with them (he was 18months). So he slept in his play pen the their whole hospital stay of 5 days.

With DD I had my mom and dad, my MIL and FIL, and DH and my best friend and his best friend all there during labor. Since I labored at night the nurses were kind enough to bring blankets and pillows for everyone and they slept on the couches in the sitting area in the room. I kicked all but DH out when I started to push but an hour later when DD was born they all came right back in.

The hospital prides themselves on being family oriented and I was told if I wanted my 4 yr old in the room for labor delivery and after baby was born I was more than welcome and wouldnt be the first. I wont have her in there until after I have an epi and then Ill kick her out when I push. No need to scare the living day lights out of her! haha Ill have her come right back in after Im all covered up.

I am honestly not sure. But I only would like my sister and the babies' grandparents to visit. DH will probably be with me 24/7 again.

just found out that no one under the age of 18 is allowed due to the flu. this is so stupid. i am pissed cuz basically, if emerson cant come, then brad cant come. we dont have family nearby so brad will have emerson while i am in the hospital. and since my closest friend is also pregnant and due a week after me but had her last baby 2 weeks early, she will probably be having her baby right at the same time and i wouldnt feel comfortable asking her to be super pregnant and watching emerson or to watch emerson while she is watching her newborn and her own 1 year old.

so with that being said....i am probably going to have the baby and check out asap. i am not staying in the hospital unnecessarily when i cant have brad or emerson come visit and see me and the baby so i will just go home as long as everything is okay. in birth centers and other countries people have their babies and go home hours later, so i will probably just leave early.

No change yet because of the flu - thank God, cuz I really want my DS to be able to see his sister in the hospital. I think pretty much anyone can come, but children under 12 (that aren't siblings) have to make it a brief visit, but I don't think that's really enforced either.

No one under the age of 18 for us. They haven't started limiting relationships or number of people, just the age.

My doc said no kids allowed but she did no say what ages. She is however letting my mom in the operating room while I have my csection. So my mom and hubby will be there with me. My mom is a post partum nurse for 25 years so I think that is why. My mother in law will be in the waiting room. We are flying her out the week after Christmas from NY so she is here. She was not in or lives when we had the first two.

I just found out that as of right now, and it's indefinite, that no one under the age of 16 can visit the maternity wing.

I asked my doctor the other day and she said at the moment they are just asking anyone who has any kind of respiratory symptoms to either leave or wear a mask.

As far as I know that's their rule during a pandemic or not. It seems like common sense to either avoid visiting or wear a mask if you are sick.
