I know we are all starting to go swimming and stuff.. William had an absolute shrill screaming fit, you would have though the pool had boiling water in it.. (It was in the 80's, so not cold) but he was petrified and screamed murder.. he calmed for about 5 mns but was certainly not happy about being in the pool... anyone else having swimming issues?

I remember DS being like that. It took him a while to get used to the water. I'm praying Adisyn is not that way, but will soon find out this week as we are leaving for vacation.

Nope, Darius has been swimming 3 times now and absolutely loves it. I forgot his float when we went to my in-laws this weekend, so I just floated and carried him around. When I floated him on his stomach he would move his arms and legs just like he was swimming (I know that babies have the instinct to swim, but I still thought it was cool.)

William is so little, he'll probably end up loving it at some point. It makes sense that some babies will love the water and some wont. Either way, I'm sure its good that you are introducing it to him early! Good luck!

Thanks Laura, man I think I have traumatised him, because he has started to HATE the bathtub water too.. he completely freaked tonight when I gave him a bath, he went really stiff and had a look of pure terror on his face!! and the bath was the same temp. as normal.

Thats great that Darius loves the water. I wish I had a good underwater camera, I would love to have one of those pics of a baby swimming underwater.. its natural for them to close nose, mouth and move towards the top.. Just throw him in jk!! I would never do that, but man those photos are very cool!!

awww! It makes sense that being put in this massive bowl of water when you can't even sit and move on your own would be really frightening. Hopefully when he remembers that the bath is fine he'll be okay with it!

Everyone keeps telling me how babies can swim on their own if you throw them in..... its like thanks, but I'm not going to risk it!!!

I agree Laura, I wold love to see if babies could actually swim.. but I am not willing to throw William in!!! I have seen some incredible underwater pictures of babies..

Poor William, he is still really hesitant in the bath.. hes not very sure at all, he doesnt even splash and laugh anymore, he just looks so serious.. poor little guy! I hope I havent ruined him for life with the pool!!! =)

Connor screamed for a minute and then just kind of sat there. I don't think he liked it or hated it, I just think he was kind of indifferent. Hopefully our babies will grow to love it as they get older.
