With Derrick not working I've been considering getting a job, but have only applied a few places & haven't really taken the job hunt thing seriously.

My rent went up $100 this month, so I decided a 2nd income (his is unemployment) wouldn't hurt if the job was right. I found out the company my sister works for his hiring. My mom also worked there for 7 yrs, so I know a lot about the company & I know a lot of the people there. I sent in my resume & got a call an hour later for an interview tomorrow morning.

The pay is pretty good, but the perks of the job are what make me want to work there. They have a massage lady come in every week for the employees to get free massages, they have childcare right nearby for ages 2-5 so the boys could go there if needed, they have a car wash guy just for the people in the company to get free carwashes, and the owner usually buys the whole company tickets for local events, etc..so it's a pretty nice set up.

They do tend to have a little drama w/ the employees, it's mostly women so of course theres drama..but I know how to not get involved & which people to stay away from..so i'm not worried.

Anyways, fingers crossed that they hire me I'll be sad to be away from my babies during the week, but the extra income is going to help a ton.

Good luck Ashley! I know it will be hard to go back to work and leave the kids, but at least it's a good job with a lot of perks!

Thanks

I planned on being a SAHM for awhile, I really wanted to be able to be active in Owens school & volunteer & be able to pick him up everyday from school, so part of me kind of hopes I don't get it, because I really am not ready to leave the kids yet, but at the same time..It is what we need..no sense in both of us sitting at home not working, kwim?

What an awesome company to work for, and it is great that they have maintained those perks even in this economy. I hope that whatever you want you get

Woot!!
Fingers, legs and everything crossable are crossed for you!!

In true honesty, I still have 3 more months of mat leave (well, more but I declined it) and can't wait to go back to work. I bet it'll do you good having time away from the kids and dh... You'll be working but you can also consider it time for yourself, kwim?

It sounds like an awesome plan! You can even test it out and see how you like it and how you adapt. Hope the interview goes well and you get what you're hoping for!

Would you leave the boys with DH or at the daycare? What about Addie?

I look forwards to going back to work except I'm really dreading daycare (finding one, leaving her with strangers, etc).

Well, since your dh is home anyway, that's awesome! I wish you luck. Part of me really, really wants to be working again. Of course, I don't want Eli to be in daycare any sooner than necessary so I'll take my full mat leave but, I miss working.

I got the job!

It was a group interview & I was so amped on sugar that I talked way toooo much lol, I had a giant red bull & a diet coke before hand. There was 4 other people, plus they have another group interview this afternoon & 1 on Tuesday, so I figured it'd be awhile before I heard any news but they called me like 30 mins after the interview & offered me the job. I start on Monday

The company is a background investigation company, they also do/sell drug testing, credit checks, etc. I'll be making calls to peoples past employers to verify employment as well as if they went to school or whatever, then i'll call the school to verify that they went there & I'll also be checking people refrences. Basically, making sure what people put on their applications & resumes are 100% true before a company hires them.
