I know we'd talked a bit about swimming lessons in the past... now that summer is here, have any of you started swimming lessons? Tell us what some of the activities you do are, etc.

I don't have plans to register for lessons at this point, but I do take Lily in the pool regularly at my parents so I'm curious what you guys do in your classes.

We're starting In about 2 weeks. The class I signed her up for wants them to be at least 6 months old. Apparently we'll be singing songs and dancing around in the water as well as practicing kicking and floating. The babies will be submerged under water if they seem comfortable. Isabella has already been submerged though, a few times now by her dad. She loves being in the water and it's been done appropriately. I'm looking forward to the lessons!

I would like to take Abigail for swimming lessons - but I'll have to look into it - I think the session might have already started for her age group.

I saw a thread in the Dec PR where the mama took swimming lessons with her baby, and when they went underwater they took a photo and its so cool! My mom took swimmign lessons with me as a baby and so all the little kids in our family have been submerged with the whole 'blow in their face and dunk them' thing... and my mom was asking when I was going to submerge Lily. It made me nervous and I wasn't sure if it wass really safe. I did some reading on it last night and saw a bunch of fun underwater pictures of babies and now I want one too! haha.

I thought this short video of a baby floating independentlyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEDUrEh7hSU&feature=player_embedded was pretty awesome -

The swim lessons around here start at 9 months old. But, since I'm in CA we can usually go swimming year round

I considered it but this young, they aren't really capable of learning anything. My parents have a pool he can swim in for free. Maybe in a couple of years I will take him cause learning to swim is very important here because sooooo many people have pools in AZ.
