Is this swelling better in the morning than at night or is it the same all day? It it pitting? Are ther ANY other new "issues" that you have noticed, big or small? Can I assume that this DR did a BMP (blood test) that checked your kidney function and liver enzymes? Also, if the swelling is still there and not getting better, I would also ask for an ECG/EKG, chest x-ray and possibly an ECHO.

Is that the long word for what I'm taking?? I typed it in looking right off the bottle.
In 11 days, I've have 2 mornings where my feet looked almost normal. Otherwise, it's 24/7 constant swelling, plus now sausage toes. I can no longer feel my ankle bone. Definitely major pitting---very slow to come back to normal. THe nurse called me back this morning to tell me the dr has not yet responded to my call. I got a result letter of all my blood work in the mail yesterday. They did a CBC, Uric Acid, Renal Panel, and Erythrocyte Seimentation.

i take hctz 25mg (hydrochlorothiazide) for water retention. I just started taking it a couple months ago. Like i said, i swell like a pregnant person. I would take my socks off at the end of the day and look like i was still wearing them. When the dr poked my legs, it left prints. (i guess thats the pitting you're talking about?) I've had several blood panels, a MRA of my kidneys, EKG & i just had an echocardiogram back in May. They didnt find anything wrong. but the hctz is working for me & i've also been told to stick to a low sodium diet. Basically, after all that, i was told that some people just hold on to extra water. But mine wasnt as sudden as yours...and to be honest, i think mine has to do with the fact that i'm heavier now that i used to be. My swelling was scary looking while i was pregnant, and i just never really went back to normal, even after i delivered.
i hope they figure out what's going on with you, soon. Is the HCTZ making you pee a lot? are you noticing a difference? In the beginning, it was making me pee so much, i was getting leg cramps. The Dr prescribed me potassium supplements.

im a little curious why you would be taking naproxen, though. I'm pretty sure naproxen can cause fluid retention....buuuut....i'm not a Doctor.

That's what I was going to say about the Naproxen. Totally does not make sense. I mean, if you had swelling/inflammation due to an injury, yes. But this does not sound like that kind of swelling. The Naproxen can totally make you retain fluids, and could worsen the edema.
Ugh.....I wanted her heart tested but not like this. Hopefully its something minor and treatable.
