Are 4th of July (or similar) events in your area a big deal?
Forth of July is a pretty big deal here in golf-cart land. We have a parade in the morning and massive fireworks display at night. People start setting up tarps/blankets/chairs in advance to reserve the good viewing spots... though that's generally more for the fireworks than the parade.
The parade route will go right in front of our neighborhood like always. and ALREADY someone has staked a claim!
ITS NOT EVEN JULY YET!!!
The city pulls up anything laid down before daybreak on the 3rd of July so that's just gonna be removed... but seriously, people here go nuts for this day.
There is a local rodeo here that is held every July 4th w/ a fireworks display following...it's a pretty big deal to most locals. We went last year but because of the 1st wildfires, the fireworks were canceled. We've had rain this year so the show is on, woot!
Our city has a "patriotic spectacular" that usually includes some sort of concert, plus a fireworks display. I'm kind of thinking that it might not happen as planned this year. The whole state is under a strict burn ban, and the heat is just ridiculous.

That is crazy!! I don't think we have parades here??? We just have a 4th of July bike parade in our subdivision.
We are under a burn ban, but all the professional displays are still on. We've never taken the kids, but we are this year. 100% of every firework is illegal here---including sparklers.
Yep...just read that the mayor announced today that they will not be doing the fireworks portion of the event. The rest is supposed to still go as planned, though.

There's a big all day party at a park near our house tomorrow for Canada Day. They'll start with a big pancake breakfast, a kids play area, entertainers all day throughout the crowd and on a big stage and end up with a fireworks display at night. We'll probably drop by for a while a couple of times throughout the day. Daryn's walking down there with her friends. Our town doesn't do a parade but the town that I grew up in always did.
Nothing big that I know of. I think they do fire works on the lake but I dunno.
Mardi Gras is like that. Its insanity. People will rope off their businesses parking lot and have it just for their employees and families/friends. Its set up days prior. Its crazy and Ill only go to the alcohol free areas because drunk adults at Mardi Gras are not exactly appropriate for children.
I wouldn't say its a big deal but we have a lot of options to see fireworks. I live not even 10 minutes from the 2 big events one being baseball. We might take Dashaun to a game on Wednesday.
We have St Patricks Day on March 17th and its a huge deal here. We always take the kids to see a parade usually in blarney, but this year we changed to a smaller local town as my god-son was in that parade. Then afterward we went back to my best friends house (god-sons mum) and had a little St Patricks Day party for our kids. It was great fun for all of us even though it was just 7 kids and 4 adults.

The only "big deal" we do here is at the convention center where they have a "freedom festival". I refuse to go to it..people go early in the morning (you cant get in prior to that) and sit out there all day until 10 pm when the fireworks go off..it's hot and crowded and not even worth it.
We usually go to the river or the park and watch the fireworks.

Yep. Big deal here. Parade in the morning, street fair all day, and this year there's a street dance (its usually a concert in the park) with fireworks this year! They were banned last year. Ill go to the parade but then I'm going out of town to a BBQ and fun for the kids. We are going to pop fire crackers (not me). Hopefully we can still see the fireworks show they put on in town from.the country.
They have a big festival here on base with games for the kids, food, music, etc.. and then a fireworks display at night.
This year we are skipping all of that and taking the kids to Legoland. Since it's a Wednesday and German kids are still in school, it should be a great day to go there. We'll be home in time for the fireworks, but more than likely the kids will be too tired to stay up for them. If Jake's still awake, DH will take him outside to see them.
Yes. Every year they do fire works over Pensacola Bay at night. During the day, there are activities dowtown with a childrens Area with inflatables and pony rides, Arts and Crafts vendors, Food vendors, and live entertainment...and this year they're doing a hotdog eating contest.
they also do fireworks over pensacola beach, but i prefer the ones downtown.

Canada Day is BIG here. We usually go downtown but this year we had a family BBQ and then went to a park near by that hosts a big event with inflatables for the kids, food vendors, concerts, playground and fireworks...and everyone dresses in white and red.
Yep it is a big deal here. Fireworks in every little community, and downtown we have a HUGE event! Like Shannons neighborhood, people camp out for days! We also have many parades to choose from.
