I am about 5 weeks 4 days pregnant and I have been spotting light brown blood for the last week and a half. I had an internal ultrasound done two days ago and they said everyhting looked fine and I even got a picture of the gestational sac for the baby book. But yesterday I started spotting red blood with very tiny clots the size of pretzel salt and only when I wiped. Today the blood is brown again but seems a little thicker than before. I am driving myself crazy and would like any advice I can get. I'm not having any real abdominal cramps but this just doesn't seem normal to me. I have a 5 year-old and had no spotting at all during that pregnancy. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Please help!!!

It's probably nothing. It's possible that you might have had some irritation from the US transducer. Many women bleed early in their pg for no known reason. I bled heavily w/clots at 7 weeks but had no cramping. The red blood only lasted 1 day but I continued to have brown blood for quite some time. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic hemmorage(a clot behind the placenta). An US the next day showed that the baby was fine and I continued on to have a healthy term pg. I'd call your ob and discuss your concerns with her/him. I think the absence of cramping is a good sign. I hope that everything is fine with your peanut.

I would definitely call your Dr. it's probably nothing but they may do another U/S to put your mind at ease. GOOD LUCK!!
