I remember when I went to the hospital after my water broke, the doctor said (with his hand still stuck up there) "She's dilated about 3cm... but she's not effaced..." What is the difference? Does it mean its NOT IC and just PTL? I contracted painlessly, which is why they THINK IC. I'm sure i'll get a cerclage anyways, but I was curious about this
Not sure exactly but I have been diagnosed with PProm and Irritable uterus and I'm only effacing, no dilation. My water was leaking and I have contractions and pressure a lot. I'm very sorry for your loss.
