My husband has been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma and invasive melanoma, two types of skin cancer. Tomorrow he is having surgery and a sentinal node biopsy. So I will be MIA until late tomorrow evening. Please keep us in your prayers that the melanoma hasn't spread and all goes well tomorrow.
Everything went well today. They removed 3 lymph nodes for testing, we should hear back next week sometime on those. He did not need a skin graft for the lesion on his leg after all. They were running late, and surgery went long (he became "combative" as a reaction to anesthesia so it took awhile to wake him up and extubate) so we spent 13 hours at the hospital, but we are finally home. He is resting comfortably with painkillers and a strawberry milkshake. Thank you for thoughts and prayers - they really helped!!!!!
I brought a book and bought another while there. Dan had his new iPhone to stay busy. And my sister was doing research at the medical library, so she had dinner with me and hung out while he was being operated on (she's pure awesome). So it was a long day, but thankfully not totally boring. I did get really sick of all the Michael Jackson nonsense on the tvs though!
