Let me start off by saying I am completely scared. I was on blood pressure meds before getting pregnant but was taken off of them because they werent safe to take while pregnant. They have not put me back on anything as of yet my bp today was 125/56 which for me is good as it usually runs 150/80 without meds. They told me today that there was some protein in my urine when the urine was checked, and have ordered another 24 hour test. Can anyone tell me what this means? I know about pre-eclampsia to some degree, but I guess what I am asking is what can I do to lower the protein in the urine if anything?

I've had trace protein in my urine with Xander. My blood pressure was a little borderline too. This is what my midwife had me do. First make sure your diet is really well rounded. Eat eggs if you can... they're a great source of protien and a bunch of other stuff you need. This is really really improtant... try to get between 80 and 100 grams of protein a day. If your blood pressure does become a problem and your worried about taking meds talk to your care giver about natrual remedies. With Xander and this time around (my blood pressure started going up a little) my midwife put me on the herb hawethorn. (I wouldn't do this unless you talked to your doctor about it)

The last UTI's I have had I had a trace of sugar and a trace of Protein in my urine. Now that the UTI is gone both of those things are gone so I am not sure if that might have something to do with it. Good luck and sorry I am not more help!

I hade protein in my urine with both my kids and had no problems. THis time around I have protein in urine, high bp (144/80, 160/100)and headaches and such. So I was dx with preeclampsia. My OB gave me meds and said if it is controlled things will be fine! I am not sure if there is anything you can do to lower proteinurea!

I have had high BP earlier on this pregnancy (150/90) which is really high for me and what helped me was yoga and some breathing exercises....honestly I nor my doc understands why I have been 115/60 for the past 6 weeks....As well no more protein or sugar in my urine unlike when my BP was high....
I asked my doctor what I could do to get it lower....before he suggested the yoga, he said, 'get some new parents.' (both my parents have high BP)
best wishes..
