Silly Question: How do you know if a contraction is a real contraction that is causing changes in the cervix or just a BH?

At what point fo you call your Dr?

Update:

The next time that I have 3 in an hour they want me to come in and put me on the monitor.

I decided ill call if they are often or continue for more than a couple hours. Also if they felt with other symptoms, such as increased discharge. Hope that everything is alright Donna.

For the past few days , i have been having two to three contractions an hour and I have started to feel "sore" in my vaginal area.

I know I am drinking enough water, and I have tried laying down. I don't want to go in over nothing, but at the same time I don't want something to be changing and me not notice.

Does that make sense ?

I'd call in and ask if they want you to come in. 3 an hour is a lot at 26 weeks, or at least, sounds like a lot to me...but then I'm super paranoid!

Thanks Ladies,

I am still taking it easy and if I continue to have ANY contractions I am going to call in in the morning. ( and of course if things get worse sooner !)

From what I've been told is if I have more than a certain number an hour and/or they become regular.

But I'm bad at timing them and can't remember what the number was they gave me!

I'm glad that you are calling in the morning Donna. When I was in labor with Ari I couldn't feel nearly 75% of the contractions at all. That's why timing for women that have a history of PTL really means little, at least in my opinion. Let us know what they say. Hopefully your little bean has just been more active and set them off.

I hope you are well today!! KUP, I've been thinking about you! I didn't have anything else to add that the other ladies hadn't already said yesterday. With IU I can start having them regularly at every 5-7 minutes, and it can continue for over an hour, and they'll always want me to come in. However, 26 weeks is just too early to try and wait them out to see if they stop. GL, you're in my thoughts this morning!
