Has anyone ever been on magnessium pills for contractions and if so how long was you on it?

I am 18 weeks pregnant and been having non stop contractions this week... I do not have an infection and the baby is fine so far. The heartbeat is in the 160s. I am on metformin for gestational diabetes and thyroxine for hypothyroidism! They do not know why I am having them so they put me on slow mag (magnessium pills) twice a day! I had contractions on Sunday and Monday about 5 to 7 mins apart... and once I started the pills they stopped....
but my doctor did not tell me for how long so I stopped them last night to see if they would come back and this morning they are back! I took the pills and 6 hrs later they are still going!!! I am so confused and in pain ugh! Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Contact your Dr. and ask them if you need to continue them for a while.
I wish you the best of luck to keep that little one in there as long as possible. Did they not want to keep you in the hospital for more monitoring...
