Had my 24 week check up today. Took the 1 hour glucose test. Doctor also measured my belly. I'm supposed to be 24 wks and 1 day. I measured 31 weeks. I know belly measurements can be off +/- 3 weeks, but even if you take off the 3 weeks, that still puts me at 28 weeks. Doc ordered an ultrasound at my next appointment (in 4 weeks) to check on the baby's growth. He said it could just be a big baby, or something a little more serious like GD (we'll know more when my BW comes back), or too much amniotic fluid (which I've read horrible things about and scares me to death). I have a history of pre-term contractions. With DS1 I went in at 32 wks, dilated to a 4 with the amniotic sac bulging, but they got it stopped and he was born at 38 wks. With DS2, I had a lot of pre-term contractions starting about 26 wks and they just monitored me closely and he came at 39 wks. With this one, the contractions started at 23 wks. He's monitoring me closely again, but so far, there are no cervical changes. Other than that, my pregnancies have been fairly normal.
I know that if it comes back that I have to much fluid or GD, he'll refer me to the specialist. I'm not as scared of the GD as I am the fluid issue. Anyone else have any experience with measuring way too big for your date or having excess fluid? Obviously if it was something he was super concerned about, he would have me coming back before my next regular appt. at 4 weeks, but the waiting and the unknown are just driving me nuts here. Thanks so much in advance for any info or advice you may have!
