...for a promotion to team leader at my currently job. I'm kind of ambivalent about the job--it'd come with a lot of headaches, but more money/respect--so I'm not going to be sad if they give it to someone else...but I'm really hoping not to embarrass myself in front of our regional director today, so keep your fingers crossed that I do well!

Thanks, guys! It went well, I guess--I am not good at judging these things, so it's hard to say. I will say, the big boss seemed interested in what I had to say, but his deputy (who I think is really the one calling the shots around here) had the most negative body language I've ever seen--arms crossed, no eye contact, leaning back, grimacing. So, I don't think that bodes all that well! Which is OK, some great people applied and if one of them gets it instead of me, I'll be fine with that!

UPDATE: the super negative guy I was talking about? Yeah, on Monday he announced his re-retirement (he retired in 2004, and came back in 2008) effective THIS FRIDAY. A lot of good people didn't apply for this job because of him, so, this is pretty good news...although, he's still having input into who gets this job, so, I still think it probably won't be me! I should know one way or the other by the end of the week.

I will let them know! Still no word...I thought maybe they were waiting for the end of the pay period (it ends this Friday) so the person could start at their new salary with the new pay period, but we still haven't heard a peep. I had a dream late last week that I got four automated rejection e-mails from our HR system and my friend got the job instead, and in the dream I wasn't upset because my friend is a good guy and I wouldn't mind working for him at all.

Finally heard today: didn't get the job, but that's OK, they gave it to a woman who I really respect and who will do a great job. I actually feel pretty relieved about it. The regional director sat me down and told me about it and was super nice and told me he strongly encouraged me to apply when they have their next opening, which should be in the next year or so because we have several upper managers who will be retiring shortly. He said he appreciated how many of my answers during the interview weren't about myself but about what's best for the office. So, I feel good, and I am excited for my friend who got the job!
